Michael was preceded in death by his father: Lee Ray Cotton.
Michael is survived by his wife: Chassidi Cotton, nee Martin, his children: Courtney Smith, Jason Smith, Austin Smith, Kayleigh Smith, & Kelly Smith, his mother: Mary Cotton, his brothers: Edward Cotton & Dale (Billie) Cotton, his sister: Michele (Bill) Watts, his uncles: William (Sue) Cotton & Ronnie (Judy) Cotton, his nephew: Nicholas Cotton, his niece: Lilly Watts, he is also survived by many cousins, other relatives & friends.

Michael was a store manager for Ace Hardware in Granite City, IL. He was a member of the American Legion in Granite City & the Moose Lodge in Granite City. He enjoyed his work.
